Same Day Dentures

Many of us rely our bright, beautiful smile to greet friends and family. If you find yourself without all of your teeth, even the back ones that perhaps don’t show when you smile, you may often shy away from those big grins of the past. Cleveland Dentures are a great way to bring back that smile and restore the form and function of your mouth to the way it was meant to be!

What are dentures?

Dentures are a dental appliance which is used to fill in the spaces left by missing teeth. If you are missing just a few teeth in one area of your mouth or are missing all of your teeth, there are two options to restore your smile using a beautiful, natural looking denture. Dentures are available to be placed on the same day so you don’t have to wait for fabrication and make a second trip to your dentist’s office. Though keep in mind, most dentures do require a follow up visit for adjustments to make sure you have the best fitting denture possible.

Why do I need dentures?

Dentures work to bring back your ability to bite, chew and speak without difficulty. When you have a significant number of missing teeth, many day to day regularities become a challenge. It is not ideal to allow open space to remain as the health of your gums and jaw bone rely on everything functioning properly. Dentures will restore all lost function by replacing those missing teeth with either a partial or full denture. Your dentist will determine which form would be best for you.

Do I need a Partial or Full denture?

  • Partial dentures are used to replace a few missing teeth. They are constructed using an acrylic base which is tinted to match your gums. Often a metal or acrylic clasp is used to secure the partial denture to the existing teeth in order to keep them securely in place.
  • Full dentures replace all of your teeth! They are made with the same acrylic base as the partial but fully cover both arches of your mouth. These are secured using adhesion. Both partial and full dentures are easily removed on your own as necessary.
Would Immediate or Traditional dentures be appropriate for me? Both types of denture begin with an impression and a mold being made of your mouth.
  • Immediate dentures are able to be place right away. If you have to have some unhealthy teeth removed, there will be a period of healing and a trip back to your dentist to realign the denture and ensure a snug, comfortable fit.
  • Traditional dentures are fabricated outside your dentist’s office. You will need to return for the denture to be fit and set in your mouth. These may also require a trip back for any necessary adjustments.

If at any time you feel discomfort with your beautiful new smile, be sure to let your dentist know. Any changes can generally be done in the office while you wait. Schedule a consultation with your dentist to discuss your options.
